Morgan Dollar
The Morgan Silver Dollar is one of the most iconic coins in American history. The U.S. Mint began producing it in 1878 and continued until 1921. George T. Morgan, an assistant engraver at the time, designed the coin. It features Lady Liberty on the front and a bold eagle on the back.
Each coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver and is made from 90% silver and 10% copper. Collectors value this coin for its beauty, durability, and historical relevance.
Five mints struck Morgan Dollars: Philadelphia (no mint mark), New Orleans (O), San Francisco (S), Carson City (CC), and Denver (D). These coins circulated widely during a time of westward expansion and economic growth in the United States.
Today, collectors and investors seek out Morgan Dollars for their silver content, historical appeal, and connection to America’s past. Whether you’re starting a collection or adding a rare piece, the Morgan Dollar stands out as a timeless treasure.
