This 2021 silver coin in color commemorates the Mutiny on the Bounty. Struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver in uncirculated quality, the coin depicts the Bounty – a British Admiralty three-master that set out on a voyage to the South Seas in 1787, led by Lieutenant William Bligh, to bring cuttings of the breadfruit tree from Tahiti to the Antilles. On the planned return voyage, the historic “Mutiny on the Bounty” occurred in 1789. The motive features a detailed depiction of the sailing ship. It stands out in silver against the colored background, which shows the sea under the night sky. The foreground shows a depiction of the dinghy in which Captain William Bligh, together with 18 followers, was abandoned after the mutiny. In this boat they covered a considerable distance of 3,618 nautical miles before finally reaching Coupang on Timor. To the left of the ship is a colored banderole bearing the name of the “Bounty”. Below the Bounty, the denomination “1 DOLLAR” and the weight and fineness are shown. The reverse shows the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the inscription “COOK ISLANDS” and the year of issue 2021. The limited color coin is delivered in a protective capsule including product card.
