Coin Story
Human history is filled with stories of legendary warriors, who fought and conquered their enemies through the skillful use of weapons and superior battle tactics.
Shaka Zulu may be one of the greatest military leaders in African history. Tired of the throwing spear (assegai), he introduced a heavy stabbing spear (the iklwa); the “buffalo horns” military formation; and a large shield made of “colour coded” cowhide so soldiers knew exactly where to go when forming the “buffalo horns”.
This attack formation brought many Zulu warriors efficiently into hand to hand combat and, along with the iklwa and shield, proved devastating to their enemy.
