The Tudor Beasts Series from The Royal Mint celebrates the 10 heraldic beasts from King Henry VIII’s main residence, Hampden Court. Along the moat bridge leading into the castle, Henry VIII had statues of 10 heraldic beasts erected to celebrate the symbolism and emblems of the House of Tudor. Henry VIII commissioned these ten heraldic beasts in 1536 to mark his marriage to Jane Seymour. They were placed on the bridge over the moat leading to the palace’s great gatehouse. The beasts were intended to impress visitors and symbolize the king’s royal lineage and power.
All 2024 1 oz British Platinum Tudor Beasts The Tudor Dragon Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The 1 oz platinum coin is the only platinum bullion option in the series and is individually packaged in a protective flip. Multiples come in plastic tubes of 10 coins or boxes of 100 coins. Each box holds a total of 10 tubes of 10 coins each.
On the obverse of 2024 British Platinum Tudor Beasts The Tudor Dragon Coins, you will find the first-ever portrait of King Charles III. Martin Jennings created this bust of His Majesty in left-profile relief without a crown in 2022. The change in orientation reflects the British tradition of changing the portrait orientation from one monarch to the next.
The reverse side of the 2024 1 oz Platinum Tudor Beasts Tudor Dragon comes with a depiction of the Red Dragon of Wales. The Tudor Dynasty adopted the Red Dragon of Wales in its symbolism of its seals and banners to connect its lineage through Owen Tudor of Wales to the English royal family.
