During 1977 Queen Elizabeth II celebrated the 25th anniversary of the accession to the throne. Many countries, including Canada recognized the event with a special commemorative coin. The design on the reverse depicts the throne of the Senate of Canada, which is used by the Queen of the Governor for the ceremonial occasions. The obverse was specifically designed for this coin and bears a special legend and the dates 1952-1977.
