Coin Story
Disney’s Three Little Pigs Silly Symphony cartoon was released on 27 May 1933. Earning an Academy Award® for Best Cartoon, it was based on the original fable — although slightly softened as Fiddler Pig, Fifer Pig, Practical Pig and the wolf live to tell the tale! It proved to be another milestone of Disney animation in the scope of characterization, as well as song and score.
The cartoon tells the story of the two happy-go-lucky pigs who play around and build dwellings of straw and sticks, while the third pig builds a secure brick house. When the Big Bad Wolf comes along he can huff and puff and blow down the first two flimsy houses, but he can’t destroy the strong brick one. When he tries to slide down the chimney instead, he scalds himself landing in a boiling pot placed there by the pigs and subsequently runs away.
