The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are a band of pizza-loving brothers like no other. Exposed to mutagenic ooze as baby turtles, they were transformed into crime-fighting New York heroes expert in the art of ninjutsu.
The strongest and most aggressive of the Turtle brothers, Raphael tends to act first and ask questions later. Being independent and wanting to do things in his own highly combative way often puts him in conflict with the rest of the group. But as the fiercest and most impressive warrior, there’s nobody they want watching their backs more than Raphael.

The coin portrays Raphael in vibrant colour, wearing his signature red eye mask and wielding a pair of sai, martial arts weapons featuring a three-pronged design. The image shows him busting through a brick wall with city buildings in the background. The design includes the inscription ‘RAPHAEL’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
