This silver coin celebrates the phenomenally popular Star Wars film series and is the second coin from the New Zealand mint to embrace this high action, epic sci-fi theme.
The coin’s reverse features the familiar site of an armor clad Storm Trooper, stoically aiming his E-11 blaster at some unlucky soul off field. The design captures every detail of these cold-blooded minions with resounding success and there’s no doubt that this coin will prove just as popular than the New Zealand Mints original Star Wars offering, which depicted the ever notorious Darth Vader.
The coin’s obverse bears Ian Rank-Broadley’s meticulously detailed likeness of her majesty Elizabeth II, every strand of hair and jewel on her crown evident in the relief. Also on the obverse, the queen’s name, the name ‘Niue, ‘ the coins denominational value and year of issue.
