Coin Story
Forty years ago on May 25, 1977, Star Wars thundered onto the big screen and became a new force in pop culture. With its ground-breaking special effects, the film leaped off screens and immersed audiences in “a galaxy far, far away….” The story follows Luke Skywalker, thrust into the struggle of the Rebel Alliance after meeting Obi-Wan Kenobi. Together they enlist a team of unlikely allies on a daring mission to rescue the beautiful Rebel leader Princess Leia from the clutches of the evil Empire.
Star Wars was nominated for 10 Oscars in 1978, and received seven. It remains an enduring story to this day – most likely due to its affiliation with multiple genres: science fiction, fantasy, action, romance and drama.
