Never-Before-Seen Finish Augments 2021 Maple Leaf Coins
This 2021 release of Canada’s Maple Leaf marks not only the second mintage ever struck at the Royal Canadian Mint facility in Winnipeg, but the first-ever to feature the new Tailored Specimen finish, created just for this historic release!
New Finish and the “W” Mint Mark
Featuring the familiar Maple Leaf design, each $5 legal-tender coin comes struck in a Troy ounce of highly pure 99.99% fine silver. With this all-new finish, raised devices are given a soft, satin finish while the fields are presented with fine angled lines that meet along the vertical center of each design. This “pyramid-like” effect is meant to invoke the architecture of the Winnipeg facility itself. In addition, each coin features a “W” mint mark on the reverse.
Flawless First Releases Maple Leaf Coins
Each coin available in this offer has been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) as being in flawless Specimen-70 (SP70) condition, a distinction that means these perfectly-graded coins have ZERO imperfections — showing all features and fields exactly as the engraver and mint intended. In addition, NGC has further certified that these Maple Leaves are First Releases (FR) coins, a designation that means they were received by NGC or an NGC-approved depository within the first 30 days of their release. Collectors seek out these coins because they are produced with new dies and considered to have sharper strikes and deeper mirrors than those that are struck later. Each coin available here has been sonically sealed in an acrylic holder with a unique black display core and encapsulated with a special Canada-themed label. Each Silver Maple Leaf will arrive in a black velvet pouch with a red “W” maple logo and accompanied by a mint-issued Certificate of Authenticity.
Not only is this an exclusive release, but mintages are limited. Only 8,000 One-Ounce Silver Tailored Specimen Maple Leaf coins have been authorized for worldwide release — and fewer are available certified as Sprecimen-70 and First Releases coins.
