Prince Edward Island’s Provincial 25-cent coin depicts the charming scene of Cousins Shore, enhanced by the ever-present water, the fragile seascape of sandstone cliffs, and the many small coves. Prince Edward Island is known for its white sandy beaches, huge fields of potatoes, and as the birthplace of the popular novel Anne of Green Gables published in 1908.
The obverse design features Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at 64 years old, wearing a new crown, surrounded by the Latin inscription “ELIZABETH II D. G. REGINA”. This was the first effigy to be designed by a Canadian, Dora de Pédery-Hunt.
For the 125th Anniversary of Canada’s Confederation, twelve new 25-cent obverses were designed (one released each month) honouring the ten provinces and two terroitories.
Each roll contains 40 coins of Royal Canadian Mint issued 1992 (1867-) Canadian 25-Cent Prince Edward Island Confederation 125th Anniv/Provincial Quarters in original unopened condition.
