Ontario’s Provincial 25-cent coin depicts two Jack pines surrounded by scattered rocks which have survived a bitter climate, a unique image of Ontario’s rugged landscape left behind by the glaciers. Ontario, Canada’s most populous and second largest province, was amoung the first four provinces to form the Dominion of Canada on July 1, 1867.
The obverse design features Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at 64 years old, wearing a new crown, surrounded by the Latin inscription “ELIZABETH II D. G. REGINA”. This was the first effigy to be designed by a Canadian, Dora de Pédery-Hunt.
For the 125th Anniversary of Canada’s Confederation, twelve new 25-cent obverses were designed (one released each month) honouring the ten provinces and two terroitories.
Each roll contains 40 coins of Royal Canadian Mint issued 1992 (1867-) Canadian 25-Cent Ontario Confederation 125th Anniv/Provincial quarters in original unopened condition.
