1976 Canadian $1 Library of Parliament Centennial Specimen Silver Dollar was employed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the completion of the library of Parliment. This attractive building was the only part of the original centre block of the Parliment Buildings that was saved during the disastrous fire of 1916. It is still in use and is a popular tourist attraction in Ottawa.
