STAR TREK 50TH ANNIVERSARY STAMPS – Uncut press sheet of 12 lenticular souvenir sheets
This 24-stamp press sheet contains 12 souvenir sheets each featuring two high-value definitive stamps created using an innovative “lenticular” printing process that makes their images appear to move when viewed from different angles. The designs pay homage to Star Trek’s most famous technology—the transporter used to instantly beam people from one place to another, often in the nick of time—and one of the greatest episodes of the original series, “The City on the Edge of Forever.” A true uncut sheet, the design includes all printer’s marks and comes with a guide revealing the technical process behind it. The stamps show crew members magically appearing and disappearing: on the transporter platform of the U.S.S. Enterprise and through a time portal known as the Guardian of Forever. Stamp designer Kosta Tsetsekas, of Vancouver-based Signals Design Group, saw lenticular as an opportunity to recognize both the show’s futuristic vision and now the old-fashioned special effects that brought it to life.
