The fourth issue of the Solar System Series is dedicated to the Earth. The motive of the dome shaped coin depicts a colored and detailed image of the planet Earth which is illuminated by sun rays. The reverse features the inscription “THE SOLAR SYSTEM”, the fineness, the year of issue and the American Bald Eagle. The earth is the fifth largest planet in our solar system and the planet which is third closest to the sun. Its age is estimated to be 4.6 billion years. Two-thirds of the Earth’s surface are covered with water, which is why it is also known as the “Blue Planet”. So far, the Earth is the only known planet whose composition offers ideal conditions for biological life forms. The Earth has the highest density of all solar system planets and a strong magnetic field to protect it from devastating solar winds. The strictly limited silver proof coin is delivered in a protective coin capsule.
