DESIGN
Established with firm Canadian roots, SUPERMANTM was the first super hero, spawning countless new characters in the DC COMICSTM pantheon, such as BATMANTM. He was the inspiration for a new archetype that not only still exists today, but is more popular than ever. Many important Canadian visionaries continue to shape BATMANTM today, lending their talents as storytellers and further building on his history.
The reverse design mimics a comic book splash page with its engraved rendition of BATMANTM. With arms outstretched and knees bent, BATMANTM fearlessly soars into action against the GOTHAM CITYTM skyline. The application of blue, grey and yellow colouring over the detailed engraving recreate his iconic costume and symbol, while the alternating shades of blue and black add shadowing to his bat-like webbed cape. To the far right, the classic BATMANTM logo is engraved just above the skyscrapers, while a laser halftone pattern adds a modern graphic element in the background that infuses the entirety of the design with a classic comic book feel.
