A new release by KOMSCO the Chiwoo Cheonwang silver bullion medal.
The Chiwoo Cheaonwang silver bullion medallion that is releasing this year consits 99.9% metal purity, 31.1 gram (1 oz) with limited mintage of 50,000 pcs.
The medal shows signs of “Ag” – “999” on the obverse side when looking in different angles for forgery prevention.
Chiwoo Cheonwang bullion Medallion is produced with KOMSCO’s technical skills and with Korean cultural contents theme makes it an outstanding product.
Chiwoo Cheonwang is known as the 14th leader of ancient Baedal and symbolizes as a God of war in ancient Asian mythology.
Chiwoo Cheonwang was also a mascot of Korean cheering squad for Korean National Football (Soccer) team during 2002 Worldcup.
The obverse of the medal features a Ki-wa(1) with Chiwoo Cheonwang’s figure as motif called, ‘Gwi-myeon-wa’ (normally called Do ggae bi(2) Ki-wa, originated from Silla Dynasty)
The reverse of the medal features Chiwoo on a horse carrying a spear and a Gwi-myeon-wa shield. Printed 2017 Fine silver 999, country of issue and Ki-wa measurement of CLAY(3).
Terminologies to better understand Chiwoo Cheonwang Medallion:
(1) Ki-wa
A Korean style roof tile, normally situated on the edge of both ends, and they are made of clay.
The Ki-wa with Do ggae bi figure is called ‘Gwi-myeon-wa’.
(2) Do ggae bi
Do ggae bi is Korea’s own unique ghost monster or a god, similar to the hob-goblin from Western culture.
Do ggae bi is a protector and a fearsome figure originated from Silla Dynasty.
Chiwoo Cheonwang is famous for wearing Do ggae bi mask in every battles which brings a fearsome figures.
(3) Clay
Instead of using piece or sheet when counting the medal, Clay is applied for counting measurement of Ki-wa tiles.
Ki-wa is made of earth, dirt and clay, as raw material of Ki-wa, Clay gives a good impression and easy to pronounce.
