The South African Mint dedicates the fifth issue in the popular Big Five Series to the Buffalo. South Africa is justifiably proud of its extraordinary wildlife. The animals known as “Big Five” – Elephant – Lion – Buffalo – Rhino – Leopard – are landmarks and ambassadors of this culturally rich country. After the success of the first four issues the South African Mint is now presenting the fifth edition, the Buffalo, as a Double Capsule Set. The unique set contains twice the fourth edition, each coin minted of one ounce of silver in proof quality. The motive of the silver coins features the impressive portrait of a Buffalo. Also included in the design are the inscriptions “South Africa”, “Big Five 2021” and South Africa’s national coat-of-arms. Both reverse feature two halves of a buffalo portrait. Two of these coins placed next to each other merge the picture into one complete Buffalos’ head. If you place several of these coins next to each other, you can see a whole group of Buffalos. The strictly limited Big Five Buffalo coin set of 2 ounces of silver in proof quality is presented in a double coin capsule and a noble wooden box. The wooden tray with the two coins can be removed and turned around, so that it is possible to present both sides of the coin. Also included is a certificate of authenticity from the South African Mint.
