Stunning High-Relief Imagery
The image on this medal is the masterful creation of one of China’s most esteemed art designers, Zhu Xihua, an artist renowned for his animal artwork. The design features a brilliant contrast of depictions of fierce Eastern and Western Black Unicorns—which appear to be opposing each other—against a background of a Yin Yang symbol. The image is even more exotic thanks to incredible High Relief imagery that seems to leap from the medal’s glistening surface.

Struck by the Shanghai Mint in two full ounces of highly pure 99.9% fine silver, this immaculate piece was specially manufactured using polished dies and selected planchets to give the desired mirror effect. The Eastern Unicorn side features a Reverse Proof Finish consisting of polished devices and frosted fields while the Western Unicorn side has a traditional Proof finish consisting of frosted devices and polished fields. The contrast between the mirrored and frosted surfaces is made even more dramatic with the way each Unicorn is portrayed on the reverse side, creating even more contrast and “tension” in the overall Yin & Yang design theme.
