BACK TO THE FUTURE – 2015 1/4 oz Gold Proof Coin
In 1989, teenage time traveler Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) returned to theaters in Back to the Future Part II, the sequel to director Robert Zemeckis’s original sci-fi comedy classic. As the story unfolds, Marty and his temporal travel guide, Doctor Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd), flash forward in time to the exotic future environs of Oct. 21, 2015.
To commemorate that date, the Perth Mint has released this gold coin.
This coin is meticulously struck from 99.9% pure gold in proof quality in a 1/4 oz size. The reverse of the coin features the DeLorean DMC-12 sports car from Back to the Future set against a representation of a clock. The coin’s weight and fineness also appear in the design. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2015 year-date are shown on the coin’s obverse.
