In 2019 we celebrate the twelfth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar Pig include 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007 and 2019. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be honest, loyal, sincere and generous, with a calm temperament.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver, each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 9,000 of the 2019 Year of the Pig 1oz Silver Proof Coloured Edition in individual packaging from a maximum mintage of 10,000
DESIGN
The reverse of the coin features a coloured representation of a domesticated or pet pig, which are typically pink with black markings, along with four piglets, amid stylised foliage. The Chinese character for ‘pig’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Pig’ appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2019 year-date, the weight and fineness, and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse.
PRESENTATION
Each coin is housed in a stylish red and black display case within a lunar-themed shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
