STORY
The Perth Mint is pleased to present a 150th Anniversary of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland coin celebrating the first publication of the Lewis Carroll classic.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll and was first published in 1865. The book was an overwhelming literary and commercial success, and the fantasy world of Wonderland quickly became as much a part of English literature as Shakespeare and Dickens.
DESIGN
The coin’s reverse features Alice in Wonderland holding a bottle labelled DRINK ME with the Cheshire cat and the White Rabbit. The inscription ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’, ‘150 Years’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also appear in the design.
PACKAGING
The coin is housed in a classic Perth Mint display case, which is presented in an illustrated shipper, and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
