2013 1 oz Pure Silver Coin – Canadian Wildlife Series – Bison
Issued as part of the successful Canadian Wildlife Coin Series highlighting its rich and abundant fauna, this new Bison silver coin is dedicated to the Wood bison known as the largest land animal in North America and currently listed as an endangered species.
Represented on the obverse, there is the portrait of Her Majesty Elizabeth II. The upper part of this Canada coin includes the inscription indicating the Queen’s name. Below the effigy, there are the legends denoting the face value of the coin as well as its issuing year.
The reverse design features a fully colored Wood bison against the vivid background of Canadian woods. The embodiment of strength and endurance, these huge animals have suffered population declines due to hunting and human encroachment. As of today, Canada is the only country in the world where Wood bison live in the wild. At the top of the reverse, there is the inscription indicating the name of the issuing country. The metal fineness and standard of coinage are indicated at the bottom of the coin. Presented with the mintage quantity of 5 000 pieces, this $5 silver issue represents one of the purest coins available today.
These coins are enhanced by a private mint in Germany with a limited mintage of 5000 coins worldwide !
