1978 Canadian $1 XI (11th) Commonwealth Games Edmonton Specimen Silver Dollar commemorates the 11th Commonwealth Games which was held in Edmonton, Alberta, August 3-12 of that year. The reverse design features the symbol of the Games in the centre, and the official symbols of the ten sports which comprise the Games along the perimeter. The obverse was modified specifically for this issue.

Royal Canadian Mint issued Prestige Set comes in black leatherette with Crest of Canada, book type with clasp. Red satin inside, hinged black plastic 7-hole display, encapsulated coins – coloured flocked jackets and Certificate of Authentication. The coins may vary from the picture as it might be toned.
