Obverse
Coin depicts the design of Queen Elizabeth II with the Latin inscription:
ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA meaning “Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, the Queen.”
Reverse
Features a modern design by sculptor Emanuel Hahn, showing an Indian and a voyageur, a travelling agent for a fur company, paddling a canoe by an islet on which therer are two wind-swept trees. In the canoe are bundles of goods; the bundle at the right has HB, representing the Hudson’s Bay Company. The vertical lines in the background represet the northern lights.
