After the great success of the 5 oz Big Five Lion coin in 2016, we are proud to announce the coming release of the amazing high relief coin as a 1 kilo version! This is an appropriate presentation of the “king of the jungle” with its voluminous mane and its majestic appearance. Appearing in cultures across Europe, Asia, and Africa, the lion has been an icon for humanity for thousands of years. In some cultures, the lion symbolizes power and royalty and being compared to a lion was considered to be one of the greatest compliments. In 1875 the engraver Maarten Mauquoy opened an engraving workshop in Belgium. The seal “Handmade in Belgium” bears witness to the high quality of Mauquoy.
Enhancement was done by a private mint in Germany.
