Created in a drugstore by pharmacist Caleb Bradham in 1893, this carbonated beverage initially dubbed “Brad’s Drink” was renamed “Pepsi Cola” in 1898. Bradham chose “pepsi” as the drink’s moniker because it was originally advertised as a way to relieve “dyspepsia” (indigestion). The first Pepsi-Cola cap design was introduced in 1950, the year Pepsi’s slogan was changed to “More Bounce to the Ounce”. This tagline promised customers not only more liquid per ounce than competitor Coca-Cola, but more fun as well! This 1950 design utilized a red, white, and blue background, with the logo featured in the center over the middle white section. Before 1950, the color blue was not related to the brand in any form. Nowadays, it’s difficult to imagine Pepsi without that color springing to mind.
