Love the coin
In 2018, we celebrate the 11th animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar dog include 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006 and 2018. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be loyal, amiable, kind and friendly.
Each coin is meticulously struck by The Perth Mint from 99.99% pure silver in proof quality.
The reverse of each coin depicts a German shepherd dog and pup lying in grass with Chinese peony flowers in the background. The Chinese character for ‘dog’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Dog’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2018 year-date and the monetary denomination are shown on each coin’s obverse.
The 2018 silver releases are available as individual 1 kilo, 1oz, and 1/2oz coins, or in a stunning three-coin set comprising a 1/2oz, a 1oz, and an exclusive 2oz issue.
No more than 500 individual 1 kilo coins will be released worldwide. Issue limits of 5,000 individual 1oz coins, 8,000 individual 1/2oz coins and 1,000 three-coin sets will be released in this packaging.
