The Tudors, including Henry VIII, incorporated Welsh symbols into their royal imagery. The most notable was the red dragon, which became a supporter of the royal arms. The Tudor rose also incorporated red and white, colors associated with Welsh heraldry. Today, 2024 10 oz British Silver Tudor Beast The Tudor Dragon Coins are available from JM Bullion.
Coin Highlights:
King Henry VIII helped amplify the image of the Red Dragon of Wales as a part of the Tudor Dynasty. Although born in England, Henry VIII embraced his Welsh heritage. He strengthened the Council of Wales and the Marches, an administrative body governing Wales. He also passed the Laws in Wales Acts 1535 and 1542, which formally annexed Wales to England and extended English law to Wales, a move seen as both integrating and subjugating Wales.
All of the 2024 10 oz British Silver Tudor Beast The Tudor Dragon Coins offered here come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Each 10 oz silver coin is housed in an acrylic capsule with boxes of 15 coins available when buying in bulk. These coins are the largest option among BU silver coins in this series.
On the obverse of 2024 British Silver Tudor Beast The Tudor Dragon Coins is a portrait of King Charles III. The first-ever portrait of Charles III for British coins, this left-profile relief was created in 2022 by Martin Jennings. This effigy of the king not only changes orientation from his predecessor but also follows another 20th-century British coining tradition in depicting male monarchs without a crown in most coin effigies.
The reverse side of the 2024 10 oz Silver Tudor Dragon Coins comes with a depiction of the Red Dragon of Wales. Here, the dragon is shown seated with its wings raised at its back as its front claws clutch a shield. Emblazoned upon this shield is the Beaufort Portcullis badge.
