Design:
Algonquin artist Frank Polson has created a captivating image of a full moon behind a leafless tree. A woman stands to the left cradling an infant in her arm that is being purified by a feather overhead. The healing energy of the universe—the teachings, songs and stories—that are given to children by their mothers and grandmothers—flows from the feather to the child with a luminescent glow that bathes the pair in the ethereal beauty of moonlight. The vibrantly coloured shapes and dark flowing lines within the composition are signature design elements in Anishinaabe art and represent the universal life force that connects and animates all things.
