The coin’s reverse features Walter Ott’s Silver Maple Leaf bullion design. Struck incuse and backed by a “maple burst” field pattern, the iconic sugar maple leaf is plated with yellow gold and reaches a depth of 1.5 millimetres. The field pattern repeats on the coin’s obverse, where yellow gold plating highlights the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
