Coin Story
Flowers and Trees is the 29th Silly Symphony cartoon, released on July 30, 1932 by Walt Disney Productions. A landmark in Disney animation, it was the first cartoon to be made in colour – at Walt Disney’s insistence. It was also the first to earn him an Academy Award®. The story concerns two trees in love who are threatened by a jealous old stump that attempts to burn the forest down in order to destroy them. But he only succeeds in reducing himself to ash. The plants and animals of the forest survive the fire and celebrate the trees’ wedding.
