This remarkable collectable silver coin champions the emu, known for its extraordinary size and speed. As the second largest bird in the world and the largest in Australia, the emu stands up to 1.9 metres tall and can run as fast as 50 kilometres per hour. Found across Australia in open plains, snowfields, forests and savannah woodlands, the birds nest in winter and remain in pairs for about five months until eggs are laid, after which the male incubates alone for 55 days.

The coin’s reverse depicts a pair of emus in an outback landscape. Also included is the inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN EMU’, The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, the weight and fineness, and the 2019 year-date.
