This is exactly how the rabbit is depicted on the new coin dedicated to this year’s host.

The Black Water Rabbit brings good luck, which is why the rabbit is held in high regard and has much symbolism in different cultures. To highlight this year’s unique symbol that visits us so rarely the masters of the Lithuanian Mint created the rabbit’s image by combining many small mirrors, each representing a drop of water. Together they create an image of an exceptionally beautiful rabbit that shines in the light.

The obverse of the coin features a stylised coat of arms of Niue. The crossed clubs at the bottom, katoua, are the symbol of the Niue island, and the motto of the island is above them, ‘atua Niue tukulagi’. Each coin is ready for gifting – packed in a special wooden box.
