The seventh issue of the Canada’s Wildlife series, reissued in 2021, is dedicated to the Bighorn Sheep (Ovis canadensis). The motive depicts a detailed close-up of the head of an adult bighorn sheep in color. The reverse presents the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of issue and the denomination “5 DOLLARS”. Bighorn sheep are found in Canada, parts of the U.S. and northern Mexico and live in dry mountainous regions above the tree line. The rams are clearly recognizable by their distinctive horns. Females also have horns, but in comparison they are much smaller. The bighorn sheep is a herd animal and feeds on any grass, herbs, foliage, lichen and fruit.
