2021 Morgan Silver Dollar Celebrates The Centennial Of The Last Morgan
The Morgan Silver Dollar is America’s most popular and heavily collected vintage coin, case closed. Minted from silver mined from Nevada’s famous Comstock Lode, the hefty coin was struck from 1878 to 1904 and again for one final time in 1921. In honor of 2021 being the 100th anniversary of the final Morgan Silver Dollar, the United States Mint has resurrected the design and, using its modern technology, has released a new Morgan Silver Dollar that’s bigger and bolder than ever!
The Same Iconic Design Struck in 99.9% Silver
Featuring the same designs created by then-Assistant Mint Engraver George T. Morgan, the 2021 Morgan Silver Dollar differs from its vintage ancestors only in that instead of being struck in 26.73 grams of 90% fine silver, it has been minted in .858 troy ounces of highly pure 99.9% silver. The rest is all still there — the same profile of Lady Liberty, a cap, flora, and a crown incused with the word “LIBERTY” adorn her head, while 13 stars, “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and the 2021 date are engraved around the rim of the coin. The familiar reverse returns as well showing an eagle with outstretched wings clasping arrows and an olive branch, accompanied by a wreath. The same inscriptions— “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “ONE DOLLAR” are there to encircle the eagle.

Each coin available here was struck at the Denver Mint and, just like the vintage Morgans struck there more than a century ago, it contains the “D” mint mark. These coins all come in original Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition with razor sharp details that are as fresh and crisp as the day they left the mint. Each will come beautifully housed in its official mint packaging that consists of an elegant black box slipped inside an outer sleeve adorned with an image of the coin’s obverse and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
